Are you talking about 25 years fixed mortgage or about mortgage with 25 year amortization, with locked rate for 5 years for example? I've just check on RBC's website and they advertise 25 closed mortgage rate of 8.55%, but you'll have to call to find out their special rates (presumably lower). The ...

You can use your debit card for almost all your small purchases. You need credit card only if you want to buy something online or for major purchases such as TV, furniture....

Thanks. I didn't know that! I thought we were covered if we are in US...Well it doesn't hurt to have travel insurance especially if you travel with kids.

Any time is a good time for investing if you know in what to invest :). For example if you invest in mainstream stocks chances are you are going to get hurt. Do you have to be of a certain age to be approved for 40 year mortgage? If you are in your forties and get a 40 year mortgage is there a higher risk of defaulting on your loan?

I spoke with RBC last week and they told me the savings account interest rate is 2.75%.
I don't know about the other banks...
It barely covers the inflation.
